A familiar restaurant location near Sarasota and Manatee County’s border is preparing for a new chapter.
The former Applebee’s at 3255 University Parkway is planned to become Black Kirin Modern Asian, bringing a new dining concept to a recognizable location along one of the area’s busiest commercial corridors.
The restaurant is expected to introduce a modern Asian dining experience, offering residents another option in the University Parkway area, which serves nearby Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota and Bradenton communities.
For longtime residents who remember the Applebee’s, the change represents another example of how established commercial spaces are being repurposed as the surrounding area continues to evolve.
The new restaurant has been announced, although an exact opening date has not yet been confirmed. Renovations are underway, with plans to welcome customers in the coming months.
