A new school campus is officially moving forward in Sarasota.
Dreamers Academy recently broke ground on a new middle school campus that will expand the Sarasota charter school beyond its existing elementary program.
The new campus is planned on approximately 10 acres and will include a roughly 42,000-square-foot school building designed specifically for middle school students.
Dreamers Academy currently serves students from kindergarten through fifth grade. The expansion will allow the school to continue serving students as they move into middle school rather than requiring families to transition to another school after elementary grades.
The school uses a bilingual educational model, with instruction designed to build proficiency in both English and Spanish.
Construction of the new campus is expected to continue through the coming year, with the middle school currently targeted to open in 2027.
For a growing region like Sarasota, new schools and expanded educational options are another piece of the infrastructure that follows population growth — and something families often consider when deciding where they want to live.
